The occasion was a fun and reasonably priced holiday outing for people in the northeast - take the train into New York, check out the tree and the department store holiday decorations, then attend the New York Philharmonic's rehearsal of Handel's Messiah (tickets are just $16). This week's feature follows up on our theme of what we can do about retirement, even if the economy doesn't cooperate. At least 80% of Americans plan on retiring right where they live now. So why not remodel your home to fit your new retirement lifestyle? Barring that, renting is another good option. Read on to find out our tips on both. Here's another popular retirement destination in sunny Arizona. This one is northwest of Phoenix, even further out than the original Sun City. It's home to the massive Sun City Grand active adult community. Baseball fans will like it in Surprise because it's the winter home of the KC Royals and the Texas Rangers The capital of Wyoming is also one of the most tax friendly small cities in the U.S. because the state has no income tax. Located in southern Wyoming, Cheyenne is big on rodeos and railroad memorabilia - an interesting retirement is guaranteed. Roanoke is in one of the hottest areas for retirement, southwest Virginia.
